Real Hebrew Conversations! Happy Hebrew Lesson 21 שיחות מהחיים עברית בשמחה שיעור 21

Today we are going to learn a simple coversation that took place for real!  I was carrying my saxophone home on the bus and I got to talking to an older woman.  Here is what we said! 

Hebrew usually is written without vowels, for adult books websites, and almost all other forms of written communication.  So the conversations will be first presented without vowels, and then afterwards I will put the vowels.  Part of your homework will be to write the translation.

? רחל : שלום שמי רחל, איך קוראים לך

? שחר:היי,  קוראים לי שחר. איזה כלי גדולה יש לך כינור 

.רחל:לא, זה סקסופון, אני מורה בשני בתי ספר 

?שחר: מעניין, סקסופון זה כלי קשה לנגן  

.רחל: לא כל כך קשה, לסחוב אותו זה קשה 

.שחר: אה,  אני אוהבת קלרינט, זה שחור וארוך 

.רחל: כן, אני גם מלמדת את זה בבית ספר אחר 

?שחר: את עושה קונצרטים 

.רחל: אולי בקיץ, להיות מורה זה הרבה עבודה, אין לי זמן 

!שחר|:  זאת התחנה שלי  היה נעים להכיר, להתראות

.... רחל: אבל שחר מה 

. . .אבל היא כבר ירדה.

.רָחֵל: אוּלַי בְּקַיִץ, לִהְיוֹת מוֹרֶה זֶה הַרְבֵּה עֲבוֹדָה, אֵין לִי זְמַן 

!שַׁחַר|:  זֹאת הַתַּחֲנָה שֶׁלִּי  הָיָה נָעִים לְהַכִּיר, לְהִתְרָאוֹת

Happy Hebrew Lesson 20 ף עברית בשמחה שיעור 20

 The letter ף  is always prounced like the letter F in English. It never takes a vowel. In classical Hebrew, we also never end a word wth the sound P.  But in Modern Hebrew you can find businesses which use this sound to be more "hip. "

 Today we are learning the ך   it looks a bit like the ד but it extends below the line of hte letters. 

The sound is like the כ and it is used only at hte end of a word.  Most of the time it will take the shva or a kamatz

Let's learn the כּ with all the vowels: 

The meaning is the same, but the pronounciation is different depending upon whether the letter is at the beginning of the word.  In most classical Hebrew words the peh פּ is used at the beginning of the word and the פ is in the middle of the word. There is another form for the end of the word.  We will do that in another lesson.

Happy Hebrew Lesson 17 the letters Kaf and Haf עברית בשמחה האויתיות כ

 The letters כּ   כ  have the pronounciation K for the  כּ  with the dagesh  and H  כ  like you are clearing your throat or a cat is hissing but using the back of the soft palate. That's the best I can explain it.  These are NOT throat letters in the Hebrew language.  

The כּ has the dagesh whtn the letter is the first syllable, for the most of the cases, but sometimes it will not get the dagesh, we will get into these cases later according to the rules of grammar.
