I really have not found the perfect resource to teach the Hebrew Alphabet.
We read Hebrew from right to left, so that is how I am going to teach the letters. The English will go from left to right, and the Hebrew from right to left.
As a result, I will write it here in the way that I like to teach it.
א א א The letter Aleph
This is the first letter of the Hebrew Alphabet. Here are three different fonts for the printed letter
It is thought of as a "throat letter."
The sound is the sound of which ever vowel is being used with the letter.
So it can sound like "ah, oh, oo, ee", and sometime even like "ay"
Sometime the letter א is used as a number so it would be assigned the number 1. This can be used in Bibles, for the chapters and verses, and nowadays also on websites that show the Hebrew Bible. The letters can also be used to signify the days of the week in Hebrew.
The vowels are placed either to the side or on the bottom of the letter.
Lets practice the letter א say these with your Hebrew teacher:
א אָ אַ אֶ אֵ אִ אוֹ אוּ אֻ אֳ אֲ אֱ
