Happy Hebrew Lesson 8 עברית בשמחה שיעור 8 The letter Sin האות ש

The Letter  שׂ  is pronounced SSS  Notice that the dot is on the LEFT side of the letter.  This letter is different in meaning and usage, but has the same basic form as the Shin  שׁ that shows the dot on the RIGHT  side.  

You need to really notice the difference between the two letters.  That is why we learn them in different lessons! 

Let's practice the  שׂ with some vowels:

שׂוֹ	שׂוּ	שִׂ	שֵׂ	שֶׂ	שַׂ	שָׂ
soh	soo	seee	saay	seh	sah	saaah

The sin  שׂ is a regular consonant, no changes are needed for this letter.  

Say the names and sounds for all the letters that we have learned so far. They are in alphabetical order.

שָׂדֶה	שדה	sadeh	a field
שֶׂה	שה	seh	a lamb
שֵׂכֶל	שכל	sechel	knowledge
שֵׂעָר	שער	seyar	hair

Now let's practice a few simple sentences: 

שָׂרִי יַלְדָּה	שרי ילדה	sari yelda	Sari is a girl
הַשֵּׁם שֶׁלּוֹ שָׂגִיא	השם שלו שגיא	hashem shelo sagi	The name of him is Sagi
הִיא שָׁרָה	היא שרה	he sara	She is Sarah
