Happy Hebrew Lesson 9 The letter Zayin עברית בשמחה האות ז

The letter Zayin ז  ן   is in the middle of the Hebrew Alphabet,  

It is a regular consonant and has the Z sound 

Read zayin with all the vowels:

זְ	זוּ	זוֹ	זִ	זֵ	זֶ	זַ	זָ
זְ	זוּ	זוֹ	זִ	זֵ	זֶ	זַ	זָ
זְ	זוּ	זוֹ	זִ	זֵ	זֶ	זַ	זָ
ze	zoo	zoh	zee	zay	zeh	zaa	zaaa

Here are all the letters that we know so far: 

א  ג ד ה ו ז י ל מ  ם  נ  ן  ר שׁ  שׂ  ת 

Words to know with the letter ז

זֶה	זה	this mas sing
זֹאת	זאת	this fem sing
זָהִיר	זהיר	careful, cautious
זוּג	זוג	a pair
זְמַן	זמן	time
זֶרֶת	זרת	pinky finger

The word This has three forms: 

זֶה	זֶה	this mas sing
זֹאת	זֹאת	this fem sing
אֵלֶּה	אלה	This plural

The word this has to match the noun in male or female or plural. 

There is only one form for the plural in Hebrew: אֵלֶּה

Now read these sentences: 

זֶה יִגְאָל הוּא יֶלֶד	זה יגאל הוא ילד	This is Yigal, he is a boy
זָאוֹת זָאוּי הִיא יַלְדָּה	זאות זאוי היא ילדה	This is Zoey, she is a girl
אֵלֶּה יְלָדִים	אלה ילדים	These are chldren
אֵלֶּה זוּג נֵרוֹת	אלה זוג נרות	These are a pair of candles
